The goal of the Poverty Initiative is to mobilize the faith community to bring a loud and clear message to all: We must place a high priority on working for the dignity and well-being of all those who Jesus called "the least of these" (Mt 25) in our churches, our communities, and our nation.

The National Council of Churches is mobilizing Christians to take specific steps to challenge poverty with all the tools and energies at our disposal. We are helping to bring together people who are doing related work around the country in order to share plans, ideas, materials, and strategies.

We hope that this site will enable you to engage with our network. Furthermore, we hope that the resources here will help you to integrate justice and acts of mercy into your congregational worship and community life.
