Easter Hope to End Child Poverty - Spring 2013 Newsletter.
The Circle of Protection Coalition released a Pastoral Letter on Faith, Finances, and the Federal Budget signed by more than 100 national religious leaders the week the Budget Sequester is scheduled to set in. Now, the National Council of Churches, along with partners in the Circle of Protection, are asking all clergy and religious leaders to join in signing the letter. "It is a scandalous reality that today more than one in seven Americans (46.2 million people) - and one in five children - are living in poverty," said National Council of Churches President Kathryn Lohre. "The fiscal showdowns of recent months fail to honor the fact that 46.2 million of us are already living on the brink. This is not acceptable to us, nor is it acceptable to God."
TAKE ACTION
The Federal Budget Sequester has indiscriminately cut government funding, and people living in poverty will hurt the most. Please send a message to your members of Congress letting them know needless harm inflicted on children and families is unacceptable.
